Tana Toraja is a regency of South Sulawesi in Indonesia and home to the
Toraja ethnic group. The local government seat is in Makale, while the center
of Toraja culture is in Rantepao.

of people and lasting for several days. These ancient traditions have been practiced
over many centuries and are known to be the most complex funeral traditions
in the world.
How can you get to Tana Toraja
Rantepao can be reached from Makassar (also known as Ujung Pandang)
where you can get with a daily flights from all major cities in Indonesia.
In Makassar you can take a direct bus to Rantepao (Tana Toraja) from
the terminal the Makassar Bus Terminal located in Daya Region (30 minutes
from the airport). You can choose from a selection of bus companies and
from Standard Bus to VIP Bus service. There are daily buses at 9 am and 9 pm.
Other option is to rent a car. If you travel in the group of 3 people or more,
it is better to rent a private car because the cost for your bus tickets will be
almost the same as for renting a car. If you are interested in this option you
